Random Musings on a Wednesday. It is Wednesday, right?

So I’ve been trying to be good about keeping up with regular postings here on the new site. I have all these ideas…but they either need more research, more photos or just more TIME! to put the whole post together.
I decided today that instead of just staying quiet, I’d throw some random ideas and thoughts and pictures at you just so you know I care. lol.

Random Musings on a Wednesday
Allergies. Ugh. That’s probably all I should say about that. My face is either itchy, running, or swollen or sometimes all three. I really didn’t think my normal allergy medicine did much so I hadn’t been taking it. I think that was a mistake. I started taking it on Sunday and I think by yesterday it was starting to take the edge off everything.
But now I’m wiped out and a bit woozy. I went straight to bed after dinner last night.
Claritin Clear, my foot.

Weather. The allergies mean it’s spring!! And it’s beautiful this week in the PNW. Blue skies and getting up to 70 degrees by tomorrow. It’s still in the 40s at night, so it takes a while to get there but it gets there. That’s the point.

Taxes. Double Ugh. Okay so foggy allergy-brain and taxes do not get along very well. I keep saying I’m going to start…and I did!! I pulled out some receipts. Yay me! Woot!
It’s really not that hard. It’s just that I’m the world’s worst  a pretty bad procrastinator. And I’m not so super organized. So it takes a few solid days of playing catch-up and plugging the numbers in the right places. It’ll get done.

Online reselling. aka work. Sales are fairly steady, both on Ebay and Etsy. I’ve been trying to list steadily so that’s helping. I’m trying to think of anything that’s happened that’s super exciting. Oh, remember this flatware?
DSC_0046I just had a nice order and the buyer bought several of the listings. There’s just a few left. Kind of what I expected to happen. I just thought I’d update you, because I said I would. 🙂

Bragging on the Hubby. I just was looking through Hubby’s Etsy shop (link at top of page) and I was struck again by this photo that he took and I just wanted to show it off.

Isn’t it awesome? Lol. Can’t hurt to think outside the box with your photography, right?

What’s coming up.
Well, I started with that beach picture because I think we’re going to try to get away this weekend. We should probably save the money, but I’m kind of itching to get away and Little Man’s spring break starts and our anniversary is coming up…etc..etc… Sometimes you just gotta do it.
We’ll do it economically though. And of course we’ll hit thrift stores!
I’ll share what we find.

Also, next week Etsy is changing the appearance of our stores. You may have heard. I really need to get cracking with a better “About Me” section for all my shops. It’s being more prominently featured. I will do a post on those and the importance of having one. (one of the things I *should* have done, but hadn’t). I also need to work on making a few new banners for the shops because those are changing a bit as well.

Well, I’d better end the rambling. I have a To-Do list a mile long as you can imagine!
Thanks for reading!

My Thrifting Bucket List….Revisited

Back about a year and a half ago, in October 2012, I wrote a post about my thrifting bucket list. This list is comprised of items that I’d like to thrift once before my thrifting days are over.
This was the list back then:

“Let’s see..other items on my Bucket List:
  • Cathrineholm – hopefully the Lotus pattern. I’ve found one plain piece of cathrineholm before but not the popular stuff.
  • Curtis Jere sculpture or wall hanging.
  • Oneida flatware Paul Revere pattern
  • Dansk flatware Fjord pattern. Okay, maybe this one doesn’t count..cause I actually found some once. It was in a baggie at Goodwill in the hardware section. Hubby said he picked it up and looked at it, then put it down. I found it a few minutes later, saw the IHQ and grabbed it. It was years ago, before I knew anything about anything. Fortunately we put it on auction and did pretty well. Now that I know flatware and could do better…I want to find it again.
  • Pendleton Navajo jacket
  • Vintage Ralph Lauren sport-theme sweatshirt or jacket.
  • Georg Jensen sterling anything.”

Of course, long time blog readers will recognize that I found at least one item on that list: The Curtis Jere wall sculpture.  (see photo above)
So here is my new, revised list. Remember, I’m choosing things that are POSSIBLE to be found, not once-in-a-lifetime-there-are-only-6-in-existence-rare type things.
I’m also gonna add some things that weren’t on my Bucket List but should have been, but I already found them. lol.
Well, it makes sense in my own mind.
  • Cathrineholm – hopefully the Lotus pattern. I’ve found one plain piece of cathrineholm before but not the popular stuff. (Still a good one. Still haven’t found any.)
  • Curtis Jere sculpture or wall hanging. (YAY!!)
  • Oneida flatware Paul Revere pattern (Not sure why I thought this was so special. I’ve found a ton and there are plenty o’ patterns that sell better.)
(Yeah, that would still be cool)
  • Pendleton Navajo jacket (ditto)
  • Vintage Ralph Lauren sport-theme sweatshirt or jacket.
  • Georg Jensen sterling anything.” (Well, I did find some GJ stainless flatware…but I’d still like some sterling. Jewelry would be fun)
  • Dansk peppermill
  • Russell Wright flatware (got this from a commenter on my last post)
  • Big E Levis  (Should have been on my list, but we found ’em)
  • Finel enamel bowl (Just found the hearts one..see next post down)
  • Zoo-line Animal Figurines

I guess that’s it for now. Now, I’d love to hear from you! What’s on  your bucket list??

The Recycleista Collects: Vintage Mod Cats

(Note: Wow!! I can’t believe summer is coming to a close! School starts back up in a couple weeks for us here. Back to a schedule. Sigh. Well, hopefully that means my online work will get a bit more scheduled too. I’ve missed being here! Hope you all had wonderful summers!)

(This post has affiliate links.)

I sell most of what I find. Even when something is super, amazing cool…I enjoy owning it for awhile and then I let it go to a new home.
But there are few things that stay with me.
Mod Cats.
Now, I’m not a crazy cat lady. I have 2 cats. I love them…sometimes I wish I could go back in time and NOT adopt them. But that’s usually temporary and after a trip to the vet for one (anal glands need expressing…gross!) or after the other pees on my down comforter. I know for some, keeping cats that do this…does make me a crazy cat lady. lol.
I don’t even tell people I collect cats. Because you know what will happen then….aackk!! cutesy cat overload!
I’m very specific in my vintage cat collecting.  There’s a certain look I like them to have and I just know it when I see it.
Take for instance my wooden kitties in the above picture. These are my favorites. The tallest one there is actually a pencil holder…you slip a pencil in the back as his ‘tail’.
And the teeny tiny one….I just about fell over when I found him. Ten cents! So cute.

Then there are my brass beauties.

And no mod cat collection would be complete without a Dansk cat. (Don’t think it’s vintage..but..my collection, my rules)

Here are all the kitties together. Sorry for the bad photo. They’re on a shelf in kind of a darkish corner. Will fix that someday.

What do you think of my kitties?
What kinds of vintage do you collect?

If you want to start a Mod Cat collection of your own…here are some fabulous mod kitties right now on Etsy.

Happy thrifting!
